Walking in Barcelona Province – Barcelona to Matarò
Just a quick post today to share a video I made of a walking adventure here in Barcelona Province.
Now that we’re in Phase 2 of the transition to “new normal” – post Covid-19, etc – we’re allowed to travel within the province.
(And soon, presumably, to other parts of Spain.)
So to celebrate, I did a walk I was contemplating for a long time: I went up the coast from Barcelona to Matarò.
Here’s the video I made so you can see the sights…
Walking from Barcelona to Matarò took me most of the day, and in all it was about 34 kilometers.
It was pretty exhausting, but in a good way. Anyway, I like the idea of walking along the coast. Hard to get lost, mostly flat.
I might continue with more of these journeys in the future.
For more about walking in Spain, check out my articles about Cercedilla, the GR footpaths, Cuenca, La Pedriza and more.
In any case, I’m not a huge expert on walking in Barcelona Province… or anywhere else, really. I just go places and wander around.
Oh yeah, and sometimes I go by bike.
You can’t tell at all, but that’s the Barcelona skyline seen from about 15 km away – from El Masnou, I think. You can see the W Hotel, Montjuic, those huge smokestacks in Besòs and more.
Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for today. Just wanted to share the video, in case it inspires anyone to get out of the house and see things – do some slow tourism, as it were.
Have a good day, wherever you are.
P.S. Got any big plans for the New Normal? I’m going to be doing some more travel here in Spain, I guess. “Turismo nacional”, just like the old days. Just to support the local economy a bit. Anyway, we’ve got a lot of great places to visit. Stay tuned!
