Organic Supermarket in Madrid – Bio c’ Bon for all things delicious and healthy

Looking for an organic supermarket in Madrid?

I’ve got one for you…

Just down the street from me in the romantic Tetuán neighborhood, on Calle Orense, is Bio c’ Bon.

I walked in a few months ago to look at some fancy chocolate, and you won’t believe what happened next…

I was browsing in the aisles, minding my own business when a shop assistant actually walked up and asked if he could help me.

My jaw dropped to the floor.

A little tear started forming in my eye and running down my cheek… 12 years in Spain and nobody had EVER offered to help me in a supermarket.

“Maybe it’s an accident”, I thought.

But when I went back a few weeks later, it happened again.

In a city where customer service is often close to nonexistent, you learn to appreciate the little things.

I was so shocked I talked about it on Instagram. And the next day I got a call.

Turns out, they’re not even a giant faceless corporation. A friend of a friend brought this chain of organic supermarkets to Madrid – and she was very happy to see my comments on Insta.

Yes, yes… because I’m an influencer.

So this post isn’t sponsored – I just like to help out friends and people who are doing things right in business.

Anyway…

Why should you go to Bio c’ Bon Organic supermarket in Madrid?

I’m impressed with Bio c’ Bon because they seem to have a pretty good selection of organic food – everything in the shop is organic, and according to Sylvia, the manager of the Calle Orense location, they’re trying to emphasize food produced in Spain as well.

They’ve got large selections of beer and wine, a lot of products that you can buy in bulk (al granel, as they say around here) and even an all-organic butcher’s counter with meat and poultry.

And all in all, the prices aren’t that much more than in a regular supermarket.

Personally I don’t know a lot about these things (I’m paleo, y’know) but they also have a lot of gluten-free food, refrigerated stuff, dairy, organic cookies and candies…

You name it!

Here’s a bit more information… I assume you know how Google works to find your way to these places or to find the phone number – in the rare event you need to call a supermarket before going.

Locations of Bio c’ Bon Organic Supermarkets

For now, Bio C’Bon has 4 organic supermarkets in Madrid:

  • Calle Orense, 27. (Close to Santiago Bernabéu and AZCA.)
  • Calle O’Donnell, 8. (Between metros Príncipe de Vergara and Ibiza.)
  • Calle Lagasca, 65. (Close to metros Serrano and Velázquez.)
  • And a new location at Calle Princesa, 27 (right outside metro Ventura Rodríguez.)

Check out their website at biocbon.es – I’m sure they’ll be opening more stores sooner or later.

For more local businesses I like, check out L’Artisan French / Japanese restaurant, New York Burger if you want something meaty, Keeyan’s Dominican empanadas and more.

And if you’ve got a business, hit me up. If I like you, I might write about you.

Yours,

Daniel.

P.S. I’m also accepting guest posts. I’ve already got several on here. Send me a message and we’ll work something out – all I really ask is that it be useful and / or entertaining, and related to Madrid or Spain.

P.P.S. Do you have a favorite Organic supermarket in Madrid? Let me know, right here in the coments… Thanks!

P.P.P.S. Update 2023: I think most of these places are closed now. L’Artisan and Keyaan’s certainly are. But I bet you could find another organic supermarket on Google Maps in about 4 seconds.

How did I end up in Spain? Why am I still here almost 20 years later? Excellent questions. With no good answer... Anyway, at some point I became a blogger, bestselling author and contributor to Lonely Planet. So there's that. Drop me a line, I'm happy to hear from you.
