Inglés para pervertidos (English for Perverts)

I’ll be the first to admit that I sometimes fantasize about writing something much more interesting than a bunch of dry books about grammar. Writing Inglés para Principiantes was hardly an exciting way to spend my summer vacation, and writing my newest book has been–so far–sheer torture. So I was a bit in awe when I was in my local FNAC a couple of weeks ago, and came across the book Inglés para Pervertidos by Venus O’Hara.

After a few bottles of Alhambra on a beautiful Madrid day when I should be at home writing, I often think, “If people want to read about zombies so badly, then fuck everything! I’m going to write Phrasal Verbs Para Zombis! Or what about Panties Off! A Bilingual Guide to Cunnilinguistics!

Sex Toy Tester Venus O’Hara has thought a lot about sex in Spain – she lives in Barcelona.

Well, while I was thinking about it, Miss O’Hara was writing it. My hat goes off to her for publishing something about  sexy English. Everybody knows you can have a lot of fun learning a language in bed, especially with a red-haired hottie–we redheads are the sexiest!

O’Hara apparently also writes a sex blog for El País and has a whole lot of fetish photos up on her website venusohara.org. Check it out! I’ll be following along and wishing her success…

P.S. Since writing (and forgetting about) this article several years ago, I’ve become friends and neighbors with Venus up in Barcelona. Here’s an interview I did with her a while ago: Sex toy tester Venus O’Hara wants to raise your orgasmic awareness.

P.P.S. Unfortunately, it seems that the book Inglés para Pervertidos is out of print these days. But check on Amazon anyway, they might be republishing it soon.

How did I end up in Madrid? Why am I still here 12 years later? Excellent questions. With no good answer... Anyway, at some point I became a blogger, bestselling author and contributor to Lonely Planet. So there's that. Drop me a line, I'm happy to hear from you.
