Notorious B.I.G. on Horseback

I have the song “I Love the Dough” on iTunes. Jay-Z and the Notorious B.I.G. rapping about how they are big ballas. Many rap songs share the same theme.

The song is catchy, it plays in my head at various times of the day and the night. Especially haunting is the line “Country house, tennis courts on horseback, ridin decidin cracked crab or lobster, who says mobsters don’t prosper?” It’s been stuck with me for weeks.

But the question is this: Did the Notorious B.I.G. actually ride horses? For some reason I find it doubtful. I believe the line is some kind of literary hyperbole. It’s a kind of surrealist image, a big black gangsta rapper invading WASP territory like that. He might as well rap about playing croquet with the Queen.

If anybody can produce a photo of Mr Big on an actual horse, I’ll be very impressed. I would also like to see him eating a lobster or playing tennis. Google Image Search is coming up dry on this one. Can anybody help a balla out?

How did I end up in Spain? Why am I still here almost 20 years later? Excellent questions. With no good answer... Anyway, at some point I became a blogger, bestselling author and contributor to Lonely Planet. So there's that. Drop me a line, I'm happy to hear from you.
